  • Escape from Blackspire Labs - October 2025

For LTEC 6310: Digital Game-Based Learning, I designed Escape from Blackspire Lab, a 3D educational game concept for undergraduate General Chemistry. The game uses a narrative-driven escape format where each level represents a core chemistry topic, and players must apply concepts such as stoichiometry, gas laws, thermochemistry, equilibrium, and electrochemistry to progress and ultimately escape the lab. Chemistry content is embedded directly into gameplay mechanics, with puzzles, virtual lab interactions, and timed challenges serving as both practice and assessment. Through this project, I explored how immersive game design can support motivation, persistence, and deep learning in high-cognitive-load STEM courses. It was voted as the favorite game concept by the other students in the class.

  • Escape the 1950's - September 2025

Also, for LTEC 6310, I designed Escape the 1950s Science Fair Laboratory, a digital escape-room activity for middle school science students. The experience uses a 1950s science-fair theme and interactive storytelling to help students explore key historical scientific discoveries, including DNA, the polio vaccine, and Sputnik. Built using Google Forms and digital media, the activity replaces a traditional review lesson with problem-solving challenges, immediate feedback, and narrative immersion to increase engagement, motivation, and retention of science content. The design document includes links to the escape room and the intro video.

  • Webinar - October 2023

I presented a webinar to college and university physical science professors. The focus of the webinar was on engaging students in the application of concepts within an introduction to physical science course. I highlighted the challenges students face in terms of time constraints and diverse science backgrounds. The webinar discussed strategies to boost student engagement, including the use of technology tools like Smartbook, virtual labs, and, particularly, application-based activities (ABAs). Various tools within the Connect platform, such as Smartbook and ABAs, were showcased as effective means to personalize and enhance the learning experience for students.

  • February 2024 - McGraw Hill Video

McGraw Hill’s marketing department hired me to create a short screen share style video to showcase their Eclipse Application Based Activity. I created the script and recorded the video and voice-over.
